WOMAN LIFE FREEDOM
BY VICKI BERWICK

Synopsis

WOMAN LIFE FREEDOM is the story of Nasrin, who awaits her husband's return, the leader of the people. He is to return to the palace triumphant, with a new woman by his side. Nasrin waits in her bedroom, speaking to their daughter Sara of her fears about the future, about her husband's ruling both in the home and in country, and about their past. Nasrin must make a choice to take back control of her life, for herself and for women of her country - to say they are made of more than what the war has left them with.

From the Playwright

I wanted to rephrase the ancient Greek story of the Agamemnon, focusing on Clytemnestra’s story, by placing it in a modern day context. I took inspiration from many true female stories from war torn countries so there is no one setting, but instead a universal voice of the plight of women in any given war.
