Meg Gilbert – Producing Associate

Meg Gilbert (she/her/hers) is the Producing Associate at Parity Productions, where she helps shepherd new plays from initial development through production while supporting the organization's artistic, operational, and strategic initiatives. Working alongside the Executive/Artistic Director, she supports a wide range of responsibilities including season planning, production management, casting, contracts, budgeting, grants, communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising events, and organizational operations. Since joining Parity in 2021, Meg has produced eighteen internal development retreats, public readings and workshops, as well as full productions in New York City and London.

In addition to her producing work, Meg leads Parity's communications and public relations efforts, writing press releases, marketing copy, and organizational materials while overseeing social media campaigns and branding initiatives.

As a director, Meg is particularly passionate about the development of new plays and has directed work ranging from early workshops and staged readings to full productions. Her directing credits include productions at Florida Studio Theatre, The Urbanite Theatre, FSU Asolo Conservatory, The Cook Theater at Asolo Rep, and New York venues including The Davenport and The Jewel Box. Her work is rooted in close relationship with playwrights and actors, with a focus on cultivating bold new voices and creating rehearsal rooms that are both artist-centered and deeply collaborative.

Outside of Parity, Meg serves as a facilitator for Cornell University's eCornell program, where she teaches Executive Presence and a variety of writing, communication, and storytelling courses. She has guided hundreds of professionals in developing stronger public speaking skills, executive presence, and more effective communication. She is also a Teaching Artist at Florida Studio Theatre, where she teaches adult acting classes and mentors emerging performers.

Prior to joining Parity, Meg served as Literary Associate and Directing & Artistic Fellow at Florida Studio Theatre, where she provided dramaturgical support for the New Play Festival, evaluated scripts for production, directed readings and touring productions, assisted with casting, and collaborated with playwrights throughout the development process. Her broader experience includes nonprofit leadership, grant writing, community engagement, arts administration, project management, and literary development through organizations including the League of Professional Theatre Women, the Boxser Diversity Initiative, and the Sarasota Art Museum.

Meg holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance from Bard College, where she studied directing with Anne Bogart, Robert Woodruff, JoAnne Akalaitis, and Jonathan Rosenberg. Throughout her career, she has remained passionate about creating equitable opportunities for artists, championing new work, and building radically collaborative spaces.
