Parity's mission of championing the work of women, trans, gender expansive and intersex artists is grounded in the Parity Development Award. Presented to one woman (cis or trans) and one trans, gender expansive or intersex early-mid career playwright a year, winners receive extensive new play development support and $2,500, with the option of a full production. The Parity Development Award Reading Series is the public Staged Reading culmination of a year of creative collaboration. To date, Parity has presented 18 Development Awards.
