Works by Women
Works by Women was conceived in August 2009 to make theatergoers aware of the opportunity and pay disparity between women theatre artists and their male counterparts and of the power theatergoers wield in addressing it. The organization incorporated in 2014 and spent a year actively advocating for women and helping the theatre world make huge strides forward in its journey towards true parity. We have carried over the key principals of advocacy from Works by Women and incorporated it into Parity Productions.
Women's Equality
Works by Women since August 2009, has made theatergoers aware of the opportunity and pay disparity between women theatre artists... The power theatergoers wield in addressing it.
The organization incorporated in 2014. WBW spent a year advocating for women. Helping the theatre world make huge strides forward. A beckon of true equality.
We have carried over the key principles of advocacy from Works by Women. We incorporated it into Parity Productions.
After all, what is that saying?
We are much stronger in numbers.
How we show up for each other is important
We make accountable efforts to uplift those who we seek inspiration from. As we forge onward. We realize we do it at the side of many warriors.
Hold ourselves in truth. As we look toward the future. We remind ourselves that Stonewalls were not torn down within a day.
What is Parity Productions doing to ensure the rebuilding of our future? How do we reshape our ability to perceive who has the right to make art?
We set milestones through sincere connections. We provide art equity jobs at Parity, including racial equity.
We make real plans to forge ahead through the resources provided here on this website.
We make art that moves the people that matter to us.
We tell the stories that feel most sincere. And feel missing from the fabric of narrative-identification.
Support Art Equity
Tell me when you knew that you had fallen in love with art? Tell me how it feels without the world's judgement?
Is this the safety that others seek for?
How do we know if this world is possible if we have no forethought of the imagination needed?
When we see possibilities in our mind, we remember the dimension of this experience.
We remember that with our bodies, we are to help the body of marginalized people. Art and equity together help us reimagine the world.
Become an advocate part in securing that balance of representation restoring itself.
But it won't do it alone...
Not without all our help.
